Priscilla Boulay
Inuvialuit Carvers
Traditional Inuit Art and Jewelry
Priscilla Boulay was born and raised in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories. Her journey in Inuvialuit art began at age three when she started sanding and polishing carvings. Her artistic talent was inherited from her late grandfather, Bobby Taylor Pokiak, and passed down through her family. Priscilla’s unique carving style is influenced by Inuvialuit traditions, including hunting, fishing, and Arctic wildlife.
Living in Calgary with her family, Priscilla continues to honor her cultural heritage. Due to limited traditional materials, she began creating jewelry from antler, ivory, and muskox horn remnants. She balances carving sculptures and making jewelry, striving to maintain her Inuvialuit traditions in an urban environment.
